My duties in this project included;
Preparing the access points to be mounted to the rafter support beams.
Running wire to each of the locations (6) that the access points were to be implemented.
Mounting the access points to the rafter support beams.
Conducting a post implementation site survey.
The "Plastics Company" was in the process of integrating SAP onto their fork trunks. They purchased Glacier touch screen mobile computers to mount on their fork trucks. These devices have 802.11b compliant radios on them. The existing wireless network which was implemented at the "Plastics Company" was 802.11a compliant with frequency hopping. These access points would not work with the new Glacier units.
One of the tasks that I was assigned at the "Plastics Company" was implementing the 802.11b compliant network. The "Plastics Company" purchased Cisco AP-350s which were implemented in the rafter support beams. The access points were implemented on 3/4 inch thick rubber matting and were strapped to the rafters. The company used power over Ethernet (PoE) injectors to power the access points.
